Israeli Fighter Jets Strike Residential Building In Syrian City

Palestinians walk past the rubble of residential buildings destroyed by Israeli strikes, amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, in the northern Gaza Strip

On Wednesday, a tragic incident occurred in the coastal Syrian city of Baniyas, resulting in the death of at least one female child and injuries to 10 civilians. According to reports from the country's state news agency SANA, a residential building was struck in the city.

The attack was attributed to Israeli fighter jets, which reportedly carried out an 'air aggression' from the direction of Lebanese territory. The target of the strike was a site in the central region as well as the residential building in Baniyas along the coast.

This is not the first time Syria has been the target of Israeli airstrikes. In April, a series of such attacks occurred near the city of Aleppo, leading to casualties among both civilians and military personnel, as per SANA's previous reports.

Israel has justified its military actions by expressing concerns about Iran's influence in Syria. The fear of Syria becoming a base for aggression against Israel has been cited as a reason for the airstrikes on locations like Aleppo and Damascus.

It is important to note that Syria and Israel have long been at odds, considering each other as enemies and lacking diplomatic relations. This ongoing conflict has resulted in multiple instances of violence and military confrontations between the two nations.
