Israeli Airstrikes In Nabatieh Kill Six, Including City's Mayor

The death toll from Israeli airstrikes on a municipality building in the southern Lebanese city of Nabatieh has tragically risen to six, with 43 individuals reported injured, as confirmed by the Lebanese Ministry of Health.

Rescue efforts are ongoing as workers strive to clear debris resulting from the attack, which also claimed the life of the city's mayor. The strikes, which targeted both the municipality building and the government administrative building, have caused significant destruction, making it challenging to assess the full extent of the damage.

Walid Al-Hashash, the director of the operations unit of Lebanon's civil defense force, revealed that a civil defense worker was among those who lost their lives in the airstrikes. The situation on the ground remains dire, with emergency responders facing obstacles in reaching those in need due to the ongoing threat of further strikes.

Alexy Nehma, the director of emergency medical services at the Lebanese Red Cross, highlighted the difficulties faced by rescue teams in providing aid to the affected population. The volatile situation forced responders to temporarily withdraw from the area for their safety.

The tragic incident also claimed the life of Ahmad Kahil, the mayor of Nabatieh, as reported by Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA). The loss of lives and the widespread destruction caused by the airstrikes have plunged the city into mourning and raised concerns about the escalating violence in the region.
