Israeli Airstrike Kills 15, Including Children, In Gaza Camp

Smoke rises following Israeli airstrikes on Gaza City, Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023

An Israeli airstrike conducted on Thursday in the Jabalia camp in Gaza resulted in the tragic deaths of at least fifteen individuals, among them children and women, as reported by the Gaza Civil Defense Authority. The strike targeted the Al-Faluja school, which had been serving as a shelter for displaced civilians for several months.

The Israel Defense Forces claimed that the school was being utilized as a 'command and control center' by Hamas, justifying the airstrike. The aftermath of the attack left dozens wounded, with nine bodies arriving at the Kamal Adwan Hospital. Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, the hospital's director, described the bodies as dismembered, highlighting the severity of the casualties.

In response to the incident, the IDF stated that they had taken various precautions to minimize civilian casualties, including the use of precise munitions, aerial surveillance, and intelligence gathering. Despite the ongoing events in Lebanon, airstrikes on Gaza have persisted, exacerbating the already dire situation in the besieged enclave.

The hospitals in Gaza are struggling to cope with the influx of casualties, lacking adequate resources and equipment. The daily struggle for basic necessities such as food and water continues to plague the residents of Gaza, adding to the humanitarian crisis in the region.
