Israel has issued a warning urging residents living near several buildings in Beirut’s southern suburbs to evacuate. The Israeli military’s Arabic-language spokesperson highlighted several buildings that would be targeted by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for containing 'interests and facilities' belonging to Hezbollah. The buildings in question are located in the Beirut suburbs of Lilaki, Haret Hreik, and Bourj al-Barajneh.
The spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, urged residents living nearby to move at least 500 meters away from the targeted buildings. Adraee emphasized the imminent targeting of these facilities by the IDF, stating, 'We will target these facilities very soon.' He further stressed the importance of evacuating the buildings immediately for the safety of the residents and their loved ones.
The warning comes amidst escalating tensions in the region, with Israel expressing concerns over Hezbollah's presence and activities in the area. The IDF's announcement serves as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of civilians living in proximity to the identified buildings.
Residents are advised to heed the warning and evacuate the specified buildings promptly. Moving away from the targeted structures and neighboring buildings is crucial to minimizing potential risks associated with the IDF's planned operations.
As the situation unfolds, authorities continue to monitor developments closely. Efforts are being made to safeguard civilian lives and prevent any unintended harm during the military operations targeting the Hezbollah-affiliated facilities in Beirut's southern suburbs.
