Israel strikes Lebanon's Baalbek for first time since start of Gaza war, security sources say

Israel has initiated airstrikes on the city of Baalbek in northern Lebanon, prompting the local governor to urge residents to evacuate. The governor, Bachir Khodr, reported that intense bombing is currently underway in Baalbek and its surrounding areas.

This marks the first time that Israel has issued an evacuation order for a city in northern Lebanon. Baalbek, a city with significant historical and cultural importance, was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984. The city is renowned for its ancient complex featuring Roman temples.
