Israel Olatunde became Ireland's fastest ever man on Tuesday evening in the European 100m final.
The Dundalk man broke both his personal best and the Irish record in the 100m final.
Paul Hession previously held the record at 10.19 and there was a feeling coming into the final that the 20-year-old could be the man to break the record.
And Olatunde was the man of the moment on Tuesday night with a blistering 10.17 run.
Italian gold medal winner Marcell Jacob won the final with a 9.95 time while British athlete's Zharnel Hughe and Jeremiah Azu finished second and third.
And the Irish youngster was only .04 of a second off a medal in what was a hugely encouraging performance for Irish athletics.
All eyes will be on the 20-year-old with Paris just two years away.
