In a recent interview, Gershon Baskin, Middle East Director of International Communities Organization, outlined the ongoing negotiations for the release of hostages captured by Hamas. Baskin highlighted that the priority for the Israeli government seemed to remain the war effort despite mounting pressure for a shift in focus towards the hostage situation.
Baskin noted that there were indications for the first time of Israel initiating an offer to Hamas. A significant meeting was projected to happen between the head of Mossad, the head of the CIA, and the Qatari Prime Minister in Europe, potentially leading to a new hostage agreement.
