Israel announced on Wednesday that it had taken action to 'eliminate' Hezbollah operatives in southern Lebanon, despite a ceasefire agreement in place between Israeli forces and the militant group. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) were enforcing the ceasefire and had detained suspects who were approaching restricted areas, according to spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari.
Rear Adm. Hagari emphasized that the presence of armed operatives in the region was a violation of the ceasefire agreement, and any such individuals would be 'neutralized or apprehended.' The IDF successfully apprehended suspects in the village of Tir Harfah and conducted interrogations.
'Residents of Lebanon, as you have seen throughout the war, we do what we say. For your protection, we call on you not to approach the area where our forces are positioned,' Hagari stated. He further explained that the ceasefire agreement was designed to be gradual, and updates would be provided to the residents regarding when it would be safe to return to the area.
The actions taken by Israel underscore the commitment to upholding the terms of the ceasefire agreement and ensuring the safety and security of the region. The IDF's swift response to the presence of armed operatives demonstrates a proactive approach to maintaining peace and stability in the area.
