Israel informed the US on Thursday morning that they had potentially killed Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, pending confirmation through testing, as stated by a State Department spokesperson. Following this notification, the US engaged in multiple discussions with Israel at various levels to verify the information, according to the spokesperson.
The State Department spokesperson mentioned that US officials, including those at the State Department and the US embassy in Israel, were informed by Israeli authorities about the situation involving Sinwar. Additionally, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken held conversations with Qatar's Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who serves as the prime minister and foreign minister, as well as Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. These discussions took place while Blinken was traveling with President Joe Biden to Berlin aboard Air Force One.
