'Isn't by accident!' - Manchester United fan doubles down on Darwin Nunez claim

Darwin Nunez endured a night to forget as Liverpool crashed out of the Carabao Cup at the hands of Manchester City on Thursday night.

The forward spurned three glorious chances at different points in the game. The most high-profile came with his side 3-2 down at the Etihad.

Those missed chances lead to supporters of other clubs mocking the forward during and after the game on social media. Nunez joined Liverpool in the summer from Benfica in a deal worth £64.1million (€75m, with a possible £21.3m (€25m) in add-ons depending on individual success, ranging from reaching appearance landmarks, scoring goals to winning the Champions League.

Even though it has been a tough start for Nunez in English football since he joined the club from Benfica in the summer, he has still managed nine goals in 19 matches in all competitions. And taking to Twitter on Friday afternoon, talksport presenter Mark Goldbridge fired back at Nunez’s critics by not only saying he would welcome the forward at Old Trafford, but the 'fact he's a chance magnet isn't by accident'.

He wrote: “I'd still take Nunez at United in a heartbeat! Yes he needs to work on his finishing but the fact he's a chance magnet isn't by accident.”

Speaking last month, former Manchester United forward Diego Forlan insisted Nunez will 'learn a lot' with Jurgen Klopp as his manager.

"I think it's good. Of course, everybody was expecting more goals maybe because of the amount of money they paid for him," he told talkSPORT.

"I think it's good, he's been scoring goals, he's playing. Now also the team is struggling a little bit because in the Premier League they are not doing what they were doing the last couple of years, but he has a great manager, very experienced.

"He will learn a lot with him and with the players. He's doing his job, of course, he can improve and he will improve in the future."
