IShowSpeed has announced plans to compete in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles – claiming he will run the 100 meters.
The popular YouTuber and content creator shocked his fans with the stunning admission when he made a panel appearance at ComplexCon Las Vegas.
His comments come off the back of a recent 50 meter race against current Olympic champion Noah Lyles. The American won gold in the 100 meters in Paris earlier this year.
Surprisingly, that race was a lot closer than many people would have initially expected. IShowSpeed actually got off to the better start before succumbing to the world’s fastest man.
The race – which had $100k at stake – further proved IShowSpeed’s credentials. He often posts videos demonstrating his athleticism and energetic behaviour.

Will IShowSpeed Actually Compete At The 2028 Olympic Games?
IShowSpeed – real name Darren Jason Watkins Jr – seemed extremely confident about earning his place at the 2028 Olympic Games.
“2028, I’ll be running in the Olympics for sure,” the 19-year-old revealed before adding what events he will be setting his sights on.
“I’m going to do 100 meters and 50 meters and maybe 200.”
However, the host at the ComplexCon Las Vegas pointed out there is no 50 meter race event. IShowSpeed then quickly backtracked and said: “You know what I mean, 100 meters then.”
Often referred to as Speed, the popular YouTube star is a fan of Premier League football and idolises Cristiano Ronaldo. He once met him after a Portugal international in 2023.
Speed’s sporting credentials and passion is certainly there. However, even his most loyal fans will be unsure about his latest admission to compete in Los Angeles.
To even get in with a chance, the teenager would need to impress at the Olympic Trials to try and force his way into Team USA’s setup. That of course, will be no easy feat. Also, places are very limited. Leaving his chances close to zero.
