iPhone manufacturer Apple just released a vital new update to their devices' operating system which brings a litany of updated features - including bug fixes which may have been actively exploited in the past.
And while it's fairly important that iPhone users consider installing the new iOS patch as soon as they can to protect their handheld devices, a number of people who have already updated to 16.5 are complaining that their phone's battery life has since took a bit of a hit.
You don't have to search far on social media to see Apple fans complaining of issues with the new software, with one called Lucas, exclaiming: “I thought it was just on my iPhone. iOS 16.5 battery drainage is even worse.”

The Mirror reports that another named Mark, questioned: "Any idea why iOS 16.5 is absolutely decimating the battery on my iPhone 12 Pro? It seems much much worse than it did on 16.4.1 - I’d rarely get to 50% at the end of the day."
While battery life is an incredibly important feature of mobile devices, the wave of complaints may leave some people worried about installing the protective and security issue eradicating new patch - but it's not an update which should be ignored. Luckily, the issue with battery drainage should be quite simple to fix.
It's reported that after a few days, the device will sort itself out and return to normal. The explanation behind this is that whenever Apple push out major software updates, iPhones are sometimes tasked with re-indexing data - which in turn can subsequently lead to battery life dropping.
The global tech giant says that these complicated procedures are carried out in the background as it doesn't want the privacy implications associated with sending data to cloud storage. All in all, the process can take a few days to complete, before iPhone battery returns to its normal strength.
Of course, if there is in fact a bug in iOS 16.5 which is causing faster battery drain, you can expect that Apple will identify this quickly and push out another update over the coming weeks.
