Coronation Street fans were appalled by gritty scenes featuring relapsed addict Abi Franklin in tonight's hour-long episode.
Corrie fans saw the wayward mechanic, played by Sally Carman, high on drugs with her dealer and old pal Dean Turnbull at the home she shared with husband Kevin Webster.
They were interrupted by the return of Kevin who had been about to ask if they could try again after he discovered that she had cheated on him.
A furious Kevin was disgusted to find a substance on a family photo and blasted his wife for "chopping up lines on a picture of my son."
But she said scathingly: "Once a junkie, always a junkie. You knew what you were getting in to."
And Abi's downward spiral continued as Kevin told her they were over, and she and Dean continued to take drugs together at 13 Coronation Street.
In one scene Dean was seen sniffing a substance as Abi asked: "Err what am I chopped liver? Where's mine?"
Fans took to Twitter to voice their concern about the post-watershed scenes which were screened from 8pm on Sunday (March 6) after Corrie was moved because of football.
@Chlo_barnes12 wrote: "When you’ve witnessed drugs and s*** irl it’s absolutely disgusting to see it played out on TV.
"I hate it #corrie this is one of the times where im thinking 'god there’s kids watching this.'"
@angelsflight_ commented: "Drug taking before 9pm on #corrie."
@billbob19 asked: "Do we really need to see drug taking on the sabbath day?"
@RyanGTweetsTV said: "I don't want to see someone sniffing drugs thank you."
@itzzzo_ replied: "Sniffing drugs in Hilda’s house, she’d be fuming!"
@russelltruran exclaimed: "Lots of drug-taking on #Corrie tonight!"
@IntenseMisery asked: "Is this the drugs hour?"
There was more drama to come after Dean stole Kevin's garage keys and took a customer's car.
And as he roared off with Abi in the vehicle, who was trying to stop him, there was a shock as she went into labour at the side of the road.
Abi thought a pregnancy scare after her fling with Imran Habeeb last year had been a false alarm.
