Fortnite's Spider-Verse crossover is currently going on to coincide with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse's release, but players are wondering how they can pick up the skin of one of the main characters: Spider-Gwen.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is here at last. The highly-anticipated sequel to the greatest superhero movie of all time (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) has arrived, and to celebrate Fortnite currently has a Fortnite x Spider-Verse event going on which has brought skins of Miles Morales and Spider-Man 2099 with it – two of the central characters from the new film.
However, one of the main characters from the Spider-Verse films – Spider-Gwen – isn't in the Fortnite Item Shop alongside them despite a skin being available in-game (and Gwen herself appearing on the Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 map currently).
Spider-Gwen first appeared as a part of the Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 Battle Pass which ran from September 2022 to December of the same year. Spider-Gwen was the final reward from that battle pass, appearing on page 10, with a maskless variant appearing as a part of the season's bonus rewards.
Can you get the Spider-Gwen Fortnite skin?
Unfortunately, there's no way to get the Spider-Gwen Fortnite skin anymore. Spider-Gwen was unlockable as a part of the Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 Battle Pass which ended in December 2022, and while past crossover skins that were in the Item Shop have a chance to return as part of the storefront's rotations, Battle Pass skins are gone forever when that season ends.
The same applies to other popular Battle Pass skins like Thor, She-Hulk, Darth Vader, and the litany of original characters included in the battle pass over the years (and it will soon apply to the Eren Jaeger Fortnite skin, so hurry up and unlock that before Friday, June 9).
However, there is one other possibility. Some skins that have featured in the Fortnite Battle Pass have gone on to have alternate versions show up later down the line. For example, Spider-Man was in the Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1 Battle Pass, but a Spider-Man skin based on the Tom Holland films has been available in the Item Shop in the time since that season. The same goes for Deadpool and Wolverine who have also had alternate versions of themselves available outside of their respective battle passes.
So, considering how much Marvel clearly loves alternate takes on its characters, perhaps we could see a new Spider-Gwen Fortnite skin in the game later down the line, even if it isn't the Spider-Gwen skin based on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
