Is Monday May 30 a Bank Holiday this year? Why there's a four-day weekend in June

Bank Holiday Queen Elizabeth II Bank Holidays

Usually, there are Bank Holidays on the first and final Monday in May. But the last Monday of 2022 will not be a Bank Holiday because of a change to the calendar to mark the Queen's Jubilee.

This year's "spring bank holiday" has been moved from the final Monday in May to Thursday June 2. An additional bank holiday has been added to the calendar on Friday June 3, to create a four-day weekend in recognition of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

It means there are nine Bank Holidays in England and Wales in 2022, compared to the usual eight.
