Savannah Guthrie drew renewed attention to the unresolved disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie, after referring to her in the past tense during a Sept. 10 segment on NBC's Today. The wording prompted speculation online, but there has been no official confirmation that Nancy is dead, and the investigation remains active.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her home in the Catalina Foothills area near Tucson, Arizona, on Jan. 31 and was reported missing the following day. More than seven months later, her whereabouts remain unknown.
