It's New Year's Day and some people will definitely be waking up craving a McDonald's and wondering if it is open.
Many McDonald's remained closed on Christmas Day to give staff time off to be with loved ones, but what about today? The fast food giant has legions of followers, who love getting stuck into a Big Mac or Sausage & Egg McMuffin on any given day of the year.
Even if you're not nursing a hangover, you might just fancy a quick fix to save cooking after the busy Christmas and New Year period. There will also be plenty of people working today who fancy a fast food treat during their shift and let's not forget many people will be on the road travelling up and down the country, visiting relatives or heading home after the New Year festivities.

But with it being New Year's Day, is it business as usual at the golden arches? The answer, according to a McDonald’s spokesperson, is: “As a franchised business, it is at the discretion of each franchisee to decide on when their restaurants operate throughout the year, including over the festive period. These decisions will reflect the needs of local communities and crew, and cater for a cross section of the UK workforce, especially those who may be working on Christmas day.”
