Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs would suffer a shoulder injury in the fourth quarter of the team’s Week 12 matchup with the Detroit Lions.
The injury would force Downs to miss the following week’s game against New England, however, he did return to practice this week and was a participant all three days.
Josh Downs injury update
After being a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice, Downs was a full participant during the final two days–a good sign for his availability against Denver.
Downs would officially be listed on the final injury report as questionable. He would go on to say on Friday that whether he plays or not will be a “coach’s decision” but that he feels good.
Will Josh Downs be available vs Denver?
We won’t officially know Downs’ status until inactives are released 90 minutes before kickoff, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter would report that Downs is “expected” to play on Sunday.
Colts WR depth chart
With Downs back, he will provide the Colts’ passing game with a major boost against what has been a stingy Denver pass defense this season. Downs has been a go-to target throughout the season and one of the NFL’s most productive slot receivers.
With Downs in the slot, as has been the case all season, Michael Pittman and Alec Pierce will be on the boundary. With Ashton Dulin already ruled out, we will probably see a bit more of AD Mitchell as well.
