Is John Cena Facing Health Issues? Fans Notice 'Awkward Posture' After Retired WWE Star's Struggle to Walk

Fans have begun raising concerns about retired WWE champion John Cena after videos circulating online appeared to show him physically struggling. In several clips, the wrestling icon is seen walking with what some viewers describe as an 'awkward posture' while exiting a vehicle, sparking widespread discussion about his current health.

Despite mounting questions and debate among fans, there has been no official information suggesting the star is facing any serious health issues. For now, much of the conversation remains speculation. Here is what has surfaced online and what fans are saying.

Videos Spark Concern Over John Cena's Health

Videos circulating online show that the former WWE star, John Cena, is slightly hunched while walking, giving him an 'awkward posture.' Fans also noticed that he is struggling to get out of a vehicle, as seen in the video.

In these videos, viewers have pointed out a perceived stiffness in Cena's movements, drawing a contrast between his current mobility and his once-dominant in-ring presence.

X user Jake Reigns Hive (@left2reigns), expressed his concern on the social media platform, saying, 'Seeing John Cena struggling to get out of a car and walking slightly bent with an awkward posture really says a lot. That's the price of everything he put his body through during his wrestling career.'

Some fans also said that the 48-year-old WWE star walks like a 70-year-old, or even a 90-year-old. A fan said that the posture is likely from 'years of wrestling catching up to him.'

Another fan said, 'The human body isn't a machine, and everything John Cena went through to make us cheer in the ring comes at a cost. Full respect to him for never giving up despite the strain.'

Decades of Physical Toll

Observers suggest that Cena's awkward posture and mobility struggles are likely down to the cumulative wear and tear of a legendary wrestling career. Having spent over two decades competing in thousands of high-stakes matches, the physical price of such a career is a well-documented reality for any veteran performer.

Cena himself has been brutally honest about his physical limitations. In a candid interview with ESPN discussing his retirement, he admitted that his body simply cannot handle the heavy lifting he once did with ease.

'I can't even do those lifts anymore because my body is so beat up,' Cena explained. 'As soon as I got through that jagged pill of, like, "Oh man, I'm never going to overhead press 375 pounds ever again," it changed the way I looked at everything. I had to stop and ask: what is the best I can do for today?'

He didn't hold back on the realities of ageing in the ring, either. 'My skills are on the regress,' he added. 'If I continue at a full-time physical level, I'm not going to run right. My partner isn't going to run right, and our relationship isn't going to run right. It's time to close this chapter.'

His Past Health Issues

Cena has been open about past health concerns. In 2025, he spoke publicly about his successful battle with skin cancer, which involved having cancerous spots removed from his chest and shoulder.

Rather than keeping the experience private, he used his platform to promote sun safety awareness, turning the personal health scare into a broader public message.

With that in mind, if Cena were indeed dealing with new physical struggles, many fans believe he would likely address it himself. As mentioned earlier, the WWE star has already acknowledged that he can no longer perform the heavy lifting he once did during his peak years in wrestling.

Life After His Retirement from the Ring

Cena officially hung up his boots at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event on 13 December 2025, bringing the curtain down on his year-long retirement tour. Since stepping away from the ring, he has shifted his focus to his Hollywood career and various business ventures.

Because he is no longer appearing regularly on television, his public sightings have become much rarer. That scarcity is one reason fans are paying closer attention whenever he is seen in public.

As it stands, there is zero evidence to support the claims of a health crisis, but two decades of high-impact wrestling take a serious toll on anyone. While fans are quick to notice his physical appearance, it is important to remember that fans are only speculating for now, and Cena has yet to release any statement about his health.
