President Donald Trump announced Mesabi Metallics' plan to invest $15 billion (£11.33 billion) in a new Iowa steel complex at the White House on Monday, 28 September, ending hours of online speculation over an unexplained Oval Office announcement.

The White House schedule released on Sunday listed a 2 p.m. presidential announcement without identifying its subject. It also scheduled a 3:30 p.m. print interview in the Oval Office, again without naming the topic.
