Take-Two Interactive still hasn't confirmed that a multiplayer companion to "Grand Theft Auto VI" exists, but CEO Strauss Zelnick's own word choice during the company's latest earnings call has fans convinced the confirmation is already sitting in plain sight.
The comments came as Take-Two detailed a strong start to its fiscal year, driven heavily by anticipation surrounding "GTA VI" itself.
'GTA 6 Online' May Have Been Hinted by Take-Two
Speaking after Take-Two reported $1.39 billion in first-quarter bookings, Zelnick said the company expects to "sustain this new level of scale and generate strong cash flows" well beyond "Grand Theft Auto VI's" November launch.
According to GameRant, that specific phrasing carries more weight than it might first appear since a single-player game typically produces one massive revenue spike around launch rather than a sustained, ongoing plateau.
GameRant also pointed to Zelnick's use of the plural "flows" as another telling detail, arguing it suggests Take-Two expects more than one revenue stream to emerge in the months following "GTA VI's" release.
That would point toward the continued launch and ongoing support of an online multiplayer component, whether that ends up being called "GTA 6 Online," "Vice City Online," or something else entirely once Rockstar reveals it.

Zelnick also confirmed that "GTA VI" pre-orders have been "exceptional," prompting Take-Two to raise its fiscal 2027 net bookings outlook to a range of $8.0 to $8.2 billion, up from its earlier $8 billion projection.
In a letter to shareholders, Zelnick credited the results to the power of Take-Two's broader portfolio alongside the excitement building around the game's November 19 launch.
Sustaining that level of income long-term would likely require revenue sources beyond simple base game sales. While "GTA VI" is expected to include microtransactions in some form, GameRant noted that alone may not be enough to maintain the kind of scale Zelnick described.
That's part of why speculation has zeroed in on an online multiplayer mode as the more likely engine behind those sustained "cash flows," similar to how "GTA Online" has continued generating steady revenue for "GTA V" for well over a decade through Shark Cards and ongoing content updates.
When Is 'GTA 6 Online's' Reveal?
Despite the earnings call chatter, a Bloomberg insider reportedly does not expect an official "GTA 6 Online" announcement anytime soon, according to Notebookcheck.
With Rockstar's marketing efforts almost entirely centered on the single-player experience so far, the studio appears focused on building anticipation for the main story before shifting attention toward any multiplayer component.
That leaves open questions about exactly when fans might learn more, whether that comes through a future Netflix extended look at the game closer to launch, a standalone reveal sometime after November 19, or another Take-Two earnings call down the line.
For now, Zelnick's carefully worded comments remain the closest thing to confirmation fans have, with Take-Two continuing to avoid directly naming or detailing any online component tied to "Grand Theft Auto VI" ahead of its release.
