Is Eberechi Eze injured this weekend? Injury update on Arsenal star as Gunners face Bournemouth

Eberechi Eze of Arsenal celebrates after scoring the second goal to make it 2-1during the Emirates FA Cup Fifth Round match between Mansfield Town and Arsenal on March 07, 2026 in Mansfield, England. .

It’s been a season of ups and downs for Eberechi Eze at Arsenal following his £60m move from Crystal Palace last summer.

The attacking midfielder has had moments of brilliance, particularly against Tottenham Hotspur, but has not been as consistent as might have been expected.

But if Arsenal are to win the Premier League or the Champions League this season, Eze’s contributions could prove vital.

When could Eze make injury return?

Unfortunately, the England international is currently out with a calf injury sustained against Bayer Leverkusen on 17 March.

He missed Arsenal’s Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City and their shock FA Cup exit against Championship side Southampton, as well as Tuesday night’s 1-0 win over Sporting in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final.

Asked last week for an update on Eze’s injury status, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said: “Ebs is out. With Ebs I don't know because he's a special character.”

It remains to be seen if Eze will return for Saturday’s early kick-off against Bournemouth in the Premier League, but it could come too soon.

The Independent reported earlier this week that the second leg against Sporting next week has been identified as his potential return date.

Arsenal are unlikely to rush Eze back given their other quality midfield options, particularly with Martin Odegaard having returned from injury.

But the former’s creativity and ability to produce a moment of quality would be useful for the Gunners given their recent struggles in front of goal.

If Eze does make his return against Sporting, it will be timely. After their Champions League quarter-final, Arsenal then make the trip to Manchester City in a seismic clash in the Premier League title race.

That game could well define Arsenal’s season, and having Eze available would undoubtedly be a boost for Arteta.

For now, the focus will be on returning to full fitness ahead of key games against Bournemouth and Sporting.
