City doctors say that among many cancer cases affecting women, cervical cancer cases are increasing at an alarming rate. Unfortunately, rural women in our country are seeing a rise in cervical cancer with many of them have no clue about its symptoms or testing. In light of this, a cancer awareness campaign will be launched in January to address this issue. Many people believe that cervical cancer is hereditary, but it is also caused by viral infections. In fact, cervical cancer is one of the cancers caused by viral infections like HPV (Human Papillomavirus). Dr. Nisha Buchade, obstetrician and gyenoclogist from Vasavi Hospitals, Bengaluru says that it is time to understand the importance and preventive measures for cervical cancer.
