Emmerdale fans are facing up to the prospect of saying goodbye to soap icon Cain Dingle.
As fans know, Cain, played by Jeff Hordley, has been charged with the murder of Al Chapman, played by Michael Wildman, following a perceived showdown between the two. If convicted, Cain faces many, many years behind bars.
We suspect there will be many twists and turns in this storyline to come. Acting star Jeff has previously spoken of his life away from Emmerdale - possibly being cryptic about what the future holds.

As we’ve previously reported, Jeff has said he’s ‘worried’ about the longevity of being a soap star. Jeff, who first played Cain in 2000, said: “I'm worried every year. We're only on a year's contract at a time and there's times of the year when people's contracts are up and everybody gets nervous.”
Understandably so as we’ve seen the exit of a number of Emmerdale stars in recent weeks. Alongside Michael Wildman, the fallout from Emmerdale’s 50th anniversary plots have resulted in the conclusive exits of Isobel Steele and Katherine Dow Blyton - who played Liv Flaherty and Harriet Finch respectively.

Looking back on his time in Emmerdale, Jeff has discussed what makes his job so special. He explained: “I’m thrilled and very proud to be part of this show. One of the jewels in the crown, as much as we’ve got a wonderful cast, team and crew, is where we work in this beautiful village. I think it is great that we showcase Yorkshire and I’m just proud to be part of it being a Lancashire lad. I genuinely am, I feel like a surrogate Yorkshire boy.”
