Irvine Vics Scottish Junior Cup ban saga takes another twist as new appeal hearing set

Irvine Vics will finally get a chance to appeal their expulsion from the Scottish Junior Cup next month.

An SFA hearing has been set for Tuesday, October 11 which will allow the Westenders to fight claims they fielded an ineligible player against Fraserburgh in the first round of the competition on August 27.

Scottish Junior Football Association (SJFA) chiefs found them guilty of the offence earlier this month and kicked them out of the cup.

Vics lodged an appeal against the decision but a hearing scheduled for Thursday, September 22 was cancelled at the 11th hour - and two days before Vics were due to play Troon in the second round.

SFJA chiefs then pulled the plug on the Troon tie and confusion reigned when a revised fixture list published on the association's website this week stated Troon would play Fraserburgh in the second round on October 22.

That, however, remains to be seen with SFA beaks set to have the final say on a long-running saga.
