Irvine Meadow the movie in pipeline as Ayrshire club celebrate 125th anniversary

Irvine Meadow have unveiled plans for a documentary charting the club's history.

The Ayrshire non-league outfit, formed in 1897, want to release either a special feature telling the club's story or five short films each spanning 25 years as part of their 125th anniversary celebrations.

Chiefs have teamed up with the Ayrshire Film Company who hope to start shooting segments for the '125 Movie' soon.

Ayrshire Junior Football historian Gordon McCreath is also on board but the club admit they need volunteers to get the project fully up and running.

General Manager Brian Lamb, in a post on Medda's Facebook page, said: "The story will be told by you, the fans, and those that run the club.

"Obviously no one will be with us now to talk about the early years but there are enough archive material for people to talk over .

"Relations of early players / committee can say a word or two about these early years and we are lucky to have a club historian with a wealth of knowledge and other book authors that can perhaps provide information.

"We have a massive archive photograph file on our website, and a few years ago we put together the History Wall which tells the story and in our committee room we have medals , trophies and memento’s spanning back to the early days.

"It will be very much like a Who’s Who, people giving their short story on their own input or experience on events that happened.

"It needs a small committee to work with a film crew to set up these short interview statements . Probably a two-person committee for each 25 year period.

"Gordon McCreath and I have put a single photo on a PowerPoint presentation for each year so we already have a start.

"Ideally we could pull it all together to coincide with our end of 125 season celebrations in June.

"To go forward we need some volunteers, in fact if no one comes forward the project will not get off the ground."

The club intend to draw up a list of potential interview candidates. Lamb added: "In my short time with the Medda we have lost some wonderful people . Most recently John Logan (former chairman), and their input to the club should never be forgotten.

"Without wishing to individualise or exclude others, Alistair McCall, Andy Gordon, Hugh Drennan, Mears Pert, John Kerr, Alan Johnstone, Alex Kilpatrick, Gordon McCrum all come to mind.

"There must be many hundreds of others. Committee people who worked over the years, past Captains, sponsors, fans, we need everyone to tell the story.

"Who can speak about these early years, does anyone have any connections?

"We need another list of people we want to recognise or mention and a third list of people who can say something about a person , an event or their relationship with a person."

The Ayrshire Film Company will attend Medda's home game against Glenafton on January 21 where fans will be invited to give a short interview or comment.

A presentation will also be given at the Wednesday Club on Wednesday, January 25 at 2pm in the Medda Social Club.

Meadow intend to make an application for financial assistance from the Heritage Fund.
