Kevin Deeney reckons life will be a beach for Irvine Meadow if they can put one over Troon this weekend.
But the Medda No 2 insists three points against the struggling Seasiders is no shore-fire thing.
Meadow’s players began their preparations for tomorrow's WoSFL Premier Division clash early with an impromptu training session on Irvine’s sand dunes last Saturday morning.
They hit the coastline after their scheduled league clash against Glenafton Athletic was called off due to a frozen Meadow Park pitch.
And despite boss George Grierson’s idea being met with a chorus of moans and groans, Deeney reckons it turned into a useful team bonding session ahead of a crunch clash.
He said: “We kept things fairly light training wise. It was more about getting the boys all together and having a bit of a laugh.
“It was something George and I used to do as players when there weren’t any indoor facilities around.
“The boys seemed to enjoy it in the end and I beat Gary Russell in the manager’s race – that’s the big news as far as I’m concerned!
“Seriously, though, it was a good team bonding session."
Deeney insists no-one in the camp will underestimate Troon who climbed onE place to fourth bottom with a 0-0 draw at home to Arthurlie last week.
He said: “It’s not as if they’ve taken many heavy defeats this season. We know there is not a lot between most of the teams in the division.
“They’ve got the quality there to put results together but we obviously don’t want that to start against us.
“We’re at home and we will be looking to win and build on the three points we took against Cumnock a few weeks ago.”
Defender Jamie Whyte and striker Sam McCloy are back in contention having returned to full training.
