A leaked clip from EA Motive's long-dormant "Iron Man" project spread across the internet this week, and rather than staying quiet, the studio decided to address it head-on.
The confirmation gives fans their first real proof that the game has continued moving forward behind the scenes.
EA Motive Officially Acknowledges 'Iron Man' Leak
Roughly two and a half minutes of unfinished footage from "Marvel's Iron Man" surfaced on the forum ResetEra last week, carrying an "AUG26 TEST" watermark, before spreading quickly to Reddit and other platforms. Rather than issuing a standard takedown or staying silent, EA reached out directly to Kotaku to confirm the footage was genuine.
The publisher pointed the outlet to the official Marvel's Iron Man X account, created back in 2023 but left untouched until this moment. The account posted its very first message following the leak, writing, "Well, that didn't go as planned. But now you know, and we've got a lot more to show you. See you when we're ready."
That single post has already gathered hundreds of thousands of likes, with fans reacting largely with excitement rather than frustration.

The leaked footage shows Tony Stark suiting up and flying through an open world map that appears inspired by Chicago, using his repulsors for both movement and combat.
Despite the unfinished state of the build, complete with placeholder models, faceless NPCs, and missing animations, the clip also revealed a newly designed S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier and additional locations, including one set in Japan.
Reporting on the leak also points to a story built around familiar Marvel characters. This features the likes of Pepper Potts, James "Rhodey" Rhodes, and Happy Hogan appearing as allies, while Obadiah Stane, Justin Hammer, Madame Masque, and Crimson Dynamo look to serve as antagonists.
EA Motive, the Montreal-based studio behind the "Dead Space" remake and "Star Wars: Squadrons," first revealed its take on "Iron Man" back in October 2022 as part of a broader deal between EA and Marvel Games. However, the project has remained largely quiet in the years since.
This build is entirely separate from the unrelated, previously canceled "Iron Man" project once in development at Avalanche Studios, footage of which also leaked separately earlier the same week.
Is There a Release Date for 'Iron Man'?
Despite confirming the leak, EA has not shared an official release date, and the studio's response did not indicate when a proper, polished reveal might arrive. Given that the leaked build carries a test watermark dated just two days before it surfaced, most reporting suggests the game remains in an earlier development stage, making a release sometime in 2027 or later the more realistic expectation.
The official Xbox account also responded publicly to the leak, simply writing, "We'll be here," a comment some fans have interpreted as a hint the game could launch on Xbox platforms as well, setting it apart from PlayStation exclusive titles like "Marvel's Wolverine."
For now, EA Motive has only promised more information will come once the studio is ready to share it, leaving fans to wait for an official trailer built from a more finished version of the footage that just leaked.
