Irn-Bru fans 'horrified' after Ru Paul's Drag Race star boils it in kettle as throat cure

Irn-Bru fans in Scotland and beyond have been left horrified after a Ru Paul's Drag Race star boiled it in a kettle.

Talent series winner Trixie Mattel performed her live show at the SEC Armadillo in Glasgow on Sunday April 24.

However, on the run up to the event, she began suffering from laryngitis and decided on an unusual remedy, Glasgow Live reports.

An Instagram video shows an out-of-character Trixie, whose real name is Brian Firkus, pour a can of Irn-Bru into a hotel kettle.

Shockingly, the drink is then boiled in the clip called 'Scotland I’ve chosen violence (I have laryngitis and I’m desperate).'

Yes, really.

The video has since amassed a whopping 108k likes but the comments section, as expected, is full of unhappy Scots - including some well-known Glaswegian faces.

Lawrence Chaney, star and winner of RuPaul's Drag Race UK season two wrote "Not this", while fellow Scottish drag star Morgan McMichaels penned "BLASPHEMOUS !!! Somebody get her a LEMSIP for Christ sake ….. I’m gonna give you a wee Glesga kiss when I see ya next."

Meanwhile, one fan of the star commented: "SCREAMS IN HAGGIS."

"I’m phoning the police x", added another.

As for the final result? "It tasted like hot wet flat orange bubble gum", Trixie added in a follow up comment.

We're unsure if we'll ever recover from this.
