Irish WAG Aine May Kennedy pays tribute to English footballer boyfriend after World Cup exit

Irish WAG Aine May Kennedy has paid tribute to her boyfriend Conor Gallagher after England's World Cup exit.

The Chelsea star was part of Gareth Southgate's side in Qatar, but didn't make it onto the pitch in any of England's five games.

Aine May travelled to the Middle East to cheer on England and posted a message to her other half online following his country's elimination at the hands of France.

She wrote on Instagram: "Always by your side. well done king. The journey never ends."

Replying to the post, Gallagher left a number of love heart emojis.

Former Blackpool manager Ian Holloway said he was disappointed not to see Gallagher feature for England at the World Cup.

Speaking before last Saturday's 2-1 defeat to France, Holloway told The Express: "I’ve seen Gallagher go to the World Cup and he hasn’t played yet and I’m a little bit upset because I think that kid has got something special as well when it comes to running and chasing and putting a foot in.

"He made Crystal Palace a much better team than they were without him [during his loan spell last season]. And I hope he gets better and better.

"What I think Gareth Southgate is doing brilliantly is bringing in these wonderful young lads early enough to give us the wonderful enthusiasm we have everywhere."

Aine May had a last minute passport emergency before jetting out to Qatar last month and was forced to apply for a new document.

The influencer was born and raised in Cork but moved to London to pursue her dreams of becoming a professional dancer.

She was signed by a modelling agency shortly after arriving in London and has been dating the soccer star for a number of years.

The model and dancer was signed by the respected Pulse Model Agency and has featured in a number of fashion shoots.

She regularly shares pictures of the couple on social media and took to Instagram to congratulate Gallagher on being named in Gareth Southgate's squad prior to the World Cup, writing: "MY REAL LIFE SUPERSTAR. QATAR 2022. #fifaworldcup2022."

Responding to the post, the midfielder wrote: "Love you so much Ain, thank you."

The couple appear to enjoy travelling the world together when Gallagher isn't playing football and have enjoyed trips to the likes of Paris, Hollywood and Portugal.

Gallagher spent last season on loan at Crystal Palace, where he scored eight goals.

The 22-year-old made his Chelsea debut against Everton in August and scored his first goal for the Stamford Bridge club against Palace in October, which gave the Blues a 2-1 win.

Gallagher played the full 90 minutes for Chelsea in their 1-0 defeat to Newcastle last month and made an honest admission after the game.

He said: "I don’t think we were good enough and I think Newcastle deserved to win.

"We’ve got to be better and we need to take a look at ourselves. Physically, they were stronger than us and a lot more intense and that’s something we need to improve on.

"If we want to be challenging for titles and things like that, then we need to be so much better and Newcastle showed that. So we need to look at ourselves because we know there’s a lot to improve on."
