Irish sibling stars of Netflix's Dated And Related reveal family's 'PG' request and why they didn't 'do the naughty' on TV

A pair of Irish siblings starring in Netflix's new dating series Dated And Related admitted their family are proud of their behaviour on screen, after asking them to ‘keep it PG’ and avoid ‘doing the naughty’ on TV.

Rachel Foster, 23, and her older brother Andy, 27, are currently starring in the new dating series, which sees pairs of siblings search for each other’s soulmate in a luxury villa in the south of France, whilst competing for a cool €100,000.

Having had to keep their involvement in the show a secret for a year, Andy said it feels freeing to finally be able to discuss the whirlwind experience.

The quantity surveyor from Ballymoney in Co Antrim said: “It’s nice that we can finally talk about it after waiting for so long. “It’s almost as good as when we were going on to the show funnily enough, like it was a year ago.

“You almost forgot that it happened.

Rachel added: “We had to keep our mouth’s completely shut for a year, so you can imagine the shock for our friends and people we worked with and aunts and uncles that we couldn’t tell. They couldn’t believe it.

“Even when we were away doing the show for five or six weeks, we had to go complete ghost mode and they were all like ‘where the hell did they disappear too’.

“We just said we were travelling and taking a digital detox.”

But one person they did tell was their mum. And they recall she had some words of advice to impart before they set off last summer.

Rachel explained: “Obviously your parents don’t want you doing the naughty on TV but it was quite a PJ show anyway. It was more about sibling relationships, so it wasn’t that raunchy. But our mum sort of had a laugh with us and said ‘keep it PG’.

“I think even if anything had happened, I don’t know that they would have been that [mad]...It is what it is, we are adults,” she laughed.

Andy added: “Our family told us they thought we came across well and did them proud.”

Since heading off to the sunny South of France to film last year, the former Irish dancing champions have both quit their day jobs to enjoy the year and the new found fame.

Rachel, who has over 900,000 followers on TikTok and 169,000 followers on Instagram said: “I was working as a cafe manager before and a waitress in a wee bar and restaurant as well, so I was working 60 hour weeks, horrible...

“And then the Tik Toks started to blow up so I quit my jobs and focused on it.”

“I’d like to move to London or Manchester just because I think there are more opportunities than here. I’m not really much of a country girl even though I was brought up in the country. I want to be thrown into a city. But we don’t really know what to expect now or how the show is going to perform.”

Andy added: “I was out in Australia the past few months, so I might go back there, I've a couple of more months off work just to enjoy the moment.”

Hosted by Too Hot to Handle’s Melinda Berry, the 10-episode-series is currently in the top 10 shows on the streaming site in Ireland today.

But the pair, who also competed on ITV’s Family Fortunes in 2020, don’t plan to stop their TV dreams there.

“I would like to do more TV but we are contracted with Netflix for the next year so it is up to them on whether we do and after that if anyone comes forward or wants us for stuff we would absolutely be up for it,” Rachel said.
