Irish pub apologises after customer calls their Guinness 'an insult to Ireland'

A popular pub in Ireland has apologised after being labelled "worse than Cromwell" by a disgruntled customer unhappy with their pint of Guinness.

The punter called their pint "an insult to the Irish" as they gave the city centre pub in Galway a one-star review.

Paying a visit to the bar last week, the pubgoer recounted that everything was going smoothly until they were served their pint, reports Galway Beo.

To their horror, the pub had served them their Guinness in a Coors glass.

They said: "This is a sin... any good Irish person knows the unspoken civil law to respect the Guinness and its glass."

It was insult to injury from there, however, as they complained to staff about the issue but say they did not receive the sympathy they felt they deserved.

They continued: "They then tried to charge me for the rectification of the issue and after I refused to pay they gave me a Guinness glass and forced me to pour the Guinness into it, absolutely destroying the pint."

Further skewering the bar, they added: "This place is worse than Cromwell and has less regard for Irish culture."

The pub then responded to the review days later, as they apologised to the customer and called the feedback "terribly disappointing".

They said: "Thank you for taking the time to post a review on TripAdvisor regarding your recent visit and apologies that your experience was such a negative one.

"When you have a moment could you contact me with the date of your visit and a rough time- this information will allow me to fully follow-up on this terribly disappointing feedback.

"Service like you received is not acceptable and I can assure you that this matter will be addressed with the team.

"Thank you for bringing this to my attention and I look forward to hearing from you."

Unlike most beers, how Guiness is stored and poured makes a huge difference to the quality of the pint.

A popular Instagram page, s***londonguinness, which has over 200k followers, documents some of the tragic pours served in pubs across London.
