Irish people fuming after The 1975's Matty Healy says they are 'simple people' at Dublin 3Arena gig

Matty Healy 1975 Dublin Dublin 3Arena Leo Varadkar

One of the UK's biggest pop rock groups The 1975 delighted fans at a sold out gig in Dublin's 3Arena last night - but one comment made by frontman Matty Healy has sparked some controversy.

The Dublin gig marked the penultimate stop on the band's current tour of the UK and Ireland. They play in Belfast's SSE Arena tonight before heading across South America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

The concert went down a treat with fans, as they performed their biggest hits alongside songs from their most recent album, Being Funny in a Foreign Language.
