Almost 8,000 votes were cast – and it is as tight a race as we could have expected.
Irish Mirror readers have named Claire Byrne the frontrunner with Brendan O’Connor coming in second favourite.
As many as 1,473 voted for Claire, while 1,458 voted for Brendan.
Claire is currently the favourite to be the next host of the Late Late Show, with bookies suspending all bets on the Laois native this week.
Today Show host and Rose of Tralee presenter Daithi O Se came in third place with 852 – beating off competition from chat show king Graham Norton who received 813 votes.
The remaining presenters received the following votes: Tommy Tiernan, 847. Jennifer Zamparelli, 409, Ray D’Arcy, 228 and Sarah McInerney with 762 votes.
But 1,000 readers want someone else to do the job.
What do you think about the results of the poll? Have your say in the comments.
