Conor Murray rolled back the years with a vintage performance against Wales on Saturday and has been hailed by Ireland fans.
Murray has found himself out of favour with coach Andy Farrell with Jamison Gibson-Park the regular starter under the Ireland boss.
But the Leinster scrum half was ruled out hours before the game meaning Murray would be called in to start.
It has been a tough couple of years for Murray having lost his place in the Ireland squad and was recently dropped by Graham Rowntree for Munster's clash against Northampton.
But Murray looked his vintage best against Wales as Ireland ran out 34-10 winners.
And Ireland fans were full of praise for the Munster man.
One fan wrote on social media: "Conor Murray has been exceptional today. A generational player who we will never truly appreciate until he's done. Star quality from Minute/Cap 1. One of our greats."
While another said: "Hope he stays like this. Been unreal so far."
And another added: "Conor Murray outstanding for me today his best 60 mins in green in a good while massive statement with World Cup upcoming pressure was on at club level class shone through today"
