A free walk-in service is being offered to the public tomorrow by the Irish Cancer Society in the Northside shopping centre this week.
The 'Your Health Matters' roadshow is carried out by the Irish Cancer Society to increase awareness of cancer symptoms as well as detect early signs of cancer. The service will be available from 9am to 7pm this Thursday and Friday (December 1 and 2).
To date the 'Your Health Matters' roadshow has been to 18 different locations across the country. The society says that the "initiative seeks to promote positive lifestyle changes, increasing awareness of cancer symptoms, and improving medical care-seeking behaviour for the early signs of cancer."
The service takes approximately 15 minutes and includes a blood pressure check, body mass index and carbon monoxide reading. There will also be information available on cancer prevention, screening and ways to help spot the early signs of cancer.

The Irish Cancer Society said that many people find it difficult or do not attend their GP even if they are experiencing pre cancer symptoms. A referral to your GP can be arranged after your health check, if the nurse feels it is necessary.
