Ireland weather: Met Eireann predict 18C highs before torrential change this week

Met Eireann has predicted that some areas will reach a stunning 18C today, as western counties bath in the best conditions.

Despite the pleasant temperatures today, it looks like the end of this week will see things take yet another turn for the worse.

Those warming temperatures will drop again to the low teens and torrential rain will hit certain areas - particularly in the south.

Today will be mostly cloudy early this morning but low clouds, mist, and fog will break up through the morning leaving another pleasant day of sunny spells.

A scattering of showers will also develop, mostly during the afternoon hours.

The highest temperatures of 13 to 18 degrees are expected in the midwest away from onshore breezes along southern and eastern coasts in light to moderate southeast breezes.

There will be mainly dry and clear spells early tonight however, low cloud will increase along the coastal counties of Leinster where patchy drizzle may develop at times locally.

As for the rest of this week, here is what Met Eireann has said:

Tuesday

Any mist and fog will clear quickly through the morning to leave a mostly dry sunny day although a few isolated light showers are possible in the west.

Brisk moderate easterly breezes will keep temperatures in the east between 11 and 15 degrees with highs up to 16 to 18 degrees in the west.

It will be mostly dry and clear in moderate easterly breezes on Tuesday night. Although clouds will increase in the east later in the night leading to a stray light shower or two. Chilly with lows of 4 to 7 degrees.

Wednesday

A cloudier cooler day overall will bring a scattering of showery outbreaks through the morning, but sunny spells will develop in most parts during the afternoon but showers may persist in the south.

Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees, in mostly moderate easterly breezes.

Any showers in the south will gradually die away overnight with good clear spells elsewhere temperatures will dip to between 4 and 8 degrees in mostly moderate easterly winds, although they may be fresh at times in the south.

Thursday

Dry sunny conditions will return for Thursday although the wind is going to dictate the tempertures with mostly moderate easterly winds limiting highs in the east to between 11 and 13 degrees, but getting up to between 14 and 16 degrees in the west.

Mostly dry and clear but chilly with lowest temperatures dipping to between 2 and 6 degrees away from the coasts in light to moderate easterly winds.

Friday

Quite a bit of uncertainty for Friday but there will be more cloud about generally and there is the chance of showers at times highs will hold between 11 in the east and 15 degrees in the northwest in moderate to fresh east winds.

The weekend has a high degree of uncertainty although there is an increased chance of rainfall and generally more unsettled conditions.
