Ireland is set to see a few dry and sunny days this week as temperatures climb to an incredible 20 degrees on Wednesday.
Met Eireann has forecast heavy rain to develop in the Southeast, West and North of the country as the week continues.
However, the wet conditions won’t last long as sunny spells return for the weekend.

A forecaster said: “A nice day tomorrow to kick off the @NPAIE #Ploughing2022 with some sunny spells, especially in the morning. Staying largely dry across the country and temperatures up to 19c with light winds. See you in Ratheniska tomorrow”.
They added: “A few mild days ahead an mainly dry up to Wednesday night. A band of rain crossing the country Thursday, heaviest in the West. It will be short sleeve weather to start the”.

Today, September 20
Dry in many areas today with cloudy periods and some sunshine along with isolated light showers. The best chance of sunshine will be across the east and south of the country.
Patchy light rain or drizzle will affect coastal areas of the west and northwest at times. Rather humid with highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees in moderate southerly breezes.
Mainly dry overnight with some clear spells. However, cloud will increase in Atlantic coastal counties later with the chance of patchy rain there towards dawn on Wednesday.
Lowest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in moderate southerly breezes.
Wednesday, September 21
It looks set to be rather cloudy on Wednesday. There will be long dry periods along with occasional outbreaks of rain or drizzle, mainly affecting west Munster, Connacht and west Ulster.
Maximum temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees in moderate to fresh southerly winds.
Becoming rather breezy on Wednesday night with rain developing in Atlantic coastal counties.
It will be dry elsewhere for most of the night, but towards dawn on Thursday, rain will begin to edge in from the west.
Mild and humid with minimum temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in fresh to strong south or southwest winds.
Thursday, September 22
Rain will extend to most of the country on Thursday morning, turning heavy in places.
Drier and brighter weather will develop in the west and northwest by afternoon, but it will remain cloudy and wet elsewhere with further outbreaks of rain.
The rain will become confined to the southeast by evening time with drier conditions elsewhere.
Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees with fresh southwest winds, veering northwest and easing.
Any lingering rain in the southeast will clear on Thursday night, and it will be dry across most of the country with clear spells and some fog patches.
Lowest temperatures generally of 7 to 12 degrees with moderate northerly winds.
Friday, September 23
Any fog patches will clear on Friday morning, leaving a dry and bright day with sunny spells. Many areas will have a dry day, but a few showers will develop, primarily across the west and north of the country.
Maximum temperatures ranging from 14 to 18 degrees in a moderate northwest breeze.
Largely dry overnight with clear spells. There will be a few showers, mainly affecting Atlantic coastal areas. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees in light northwest winds.
Saturday, September 24
It looks set to be a fresh and bright day on Saturday with sunny spells and just a few passing showers.
Highest temperatures will range from 14 to 17 degrees in moderate northerly breezes. Dry overnight with some mist or fog patches forming under primarily clear skies. Turning cold with lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees in light variable breezes.
Sunday, September 25
Another largely dry day is forecast for Sunday, but rain is expected to develop in the northwest later in the day.
Maximum temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees.
