Ireland weather: Met Eireann forecast 22C heat to blast the country before major U-turn as temperatures nosedive

Ireland is set for a warm and dry week as temperatures remain around 22 degrees until Friday.

Met Eireann has predicted that the east of the country will see the best of the weather with just some scattered showers in places.

However, things will change on Friday as conditions become more unsettled and temperatures nosedive.

A forecaster said: “Monday will be a nice day with plenty of sunshine and temperatures back up to 21c with wind easing. Don’t forget the sunscreen! Possibly turning more unsettled from Friday with showery and cooler weather.”

They added: “A lot of messages about an early forecast for Kaleidoscope next weekend. At present it is looking showery and rather cool! Subject to change yet but campers might need some thermals if it doesn’t improve”.

Here’s a more detailed look at what is to come.

Today, June 20

Today will be largely dry with good spells of sunshine. This evening, It will become cloudier in the northwest with some patchy light rain or drizzle developing near the coast.

Highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees with light northwest or variable breezes.

Tonight will become increasingly cloudy with light rain and drizzle in the northwest spreading southeastwards over much of the country.

Lowest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees with light westerly breezes.

Tuesday, June 21

Tuesday morning will be mostly cloudy and damp with patchy drizzle, mainly in Munster and Leinster and clearing to the southeast.

Some bright or sunny intervals will develop through the afternoon and evening and perhaps a few light showers.

Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees with light west to northwest breezes.

Tuesday night will be mainly dry with a fair amount of cloud and perhaps some patchy drizzle. Most likely near western coasts.

Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees with light northerly breezes.

Wednesday, June 22

Wednesday will be largely dry with a fair amount of cloud and some sunny intervals, the best of these in the east and south.

Highest temperatures of 16 to 21 degrees, coolest in the northwest and warmest in the southeast with light to moderate northwesterly breezes.

Thursday, June 23

Thursday will be similar. It will continue mainly dry with a fair amount of cloud and some sunny spells, the best of these in the east.

Highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees, warmest in the east.

Friday, June 24

It looks like the weather will change on Friday. It will start off mainly dry. However, rain will develop in the west early in the morning and will gradually spread eastwards across the country.

Cooler weather with showers will follow later—highest temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees warmest in north Leinster and east Ulster.

Current in indications suggest that next weekend will be unsettled with low pressure dominating the weather over Ireland, bringing showers or longer spells of rain with temperatures in the mid to high teens and light moderate variable breezes.
