An Iraqi man accused of being involved with the Islamic State group has been arrested in Germany. The suspect, identified as Mahmoud A., was taken into custody in Esslingen, near Stuttgart. He is facing charges of being a member of a foreign terrorist organization.
According to prosecutors, Mahmoud A. allegedly joined IS in Iraq in or before May 2016 and participated in combat activities for the extremist group. After arriving in Germany in October 2022, he is said to have been preparing to carry out attacks on behalf of IS.
