Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf doubled down on claims about Tehran controlling the Strait of Hormuz following missile strikes exchanged between the U.S. and Iran.
Strait of Hormuz Under Iran, Says Ghalibaf
In a post on X on Wednesday, Ghalibaf said that the U.S. still has not learned that “bullying” and going back on commitments are no longer without consequences. “If you strike, you will get hit back,” the Parliament speaker said.
He warned against efforts to escalate tensions between the two sides amid missile strikes. He then said that the Strait of Hormuz would only open under arrangements by Iran and not with “American threats.”

Earlier, Ghalibaf had accused the U.S. of violating the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by both parties, criticizing the U.S. Treasury’s move to reinstate oil sanctions on Iran.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Says US Violated MoU
Esmaeil Baghaei, who is the Spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, also slammed the U.S. on Wednesday, saying that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the two sides not under trust but under a “commitment for commitment” mechanism.
Baghaei accused the U.S. of violating point 5 of the MoU, which says Iran will determine future administration of the Strait following talks with Oman and other Gulf states. He said that the Iranian government will protect its national interests and sovereignty.

Trump Says Ceasefire Over
Trump, on Wednesday at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit in Ankara, Turkey, said that the ceasefire with Iran was “over” and that talks with the Iranian government were a waste of time.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said that it had conducted additional strikes against Iran to deter its ability to threaten the flow of vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump warned Iran of further strikes if more vessels were struck.
