Iran launched a significant missile attack on Israel, firing a total of 200 missiles during the operation. The Commander-in-Chief of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed the number of missiles fired during the attack.
The Israeli military initially estimated that around 180 projectiles were launched by Iran. US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan reported that nearly 200 ballistic missiles were directed towards Israel.
According to a statement from the IRGC, approximately 90% of the missiles successfully hit their intended targets. However, both Israel and the US downplayed the effectiveness of the strike, with Israel labeling it as a 'failed' attack and Sullivan describing it as 'defeated and ineffective.'
The missile attack by Iran lasted for about an hour on Tuesday, with the Israeli military issuing nationwide alerts during the operation. The first alert was issued at 12:32 a.m. local time, followed by an update at 1:34 a.m. informing civilians that it was safe to leave shelters.
