Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene has stepped down from the role, bringing an end to a decade-long association with the IPL franchise, the team announced on Saturday.
Jayawardene, who served as head coach from 2017 to 2022 and returned to the role in 2024, led Mumbai Indians to three IPL titles across his two stints. He took over as the franchise’s Global Head of Performance in 2022, overseeing its expansion across international T20 leagues and helping establish a common cricketing philosophy across its teams.
