Skipper MS Dhoni rued that the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batters couldn't push on in the middle overs after a strong start provided by opener Ruturaj Gaikwad during their five-wicket loss against Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 opener on Friday evening in Ahmedabad.

A total in excess of 200 looked to be on the cards until the Gujarat bowlers came back to stifle the run-rate and restrict CSK to 178/7, which the defending champions chased down with four balls to spare and five wickets in hand.
