Investigation underway after emergency services called to house fire

An investigation is underway after a house fire in Salford.

The blaze broke out at a home on Allendale Walk at around 8.30pm last night (Wednesday). Fire crews and police officers were scrambled to the scene.

Nobody was serious injured. A scene was put in place as investigators scoured the property.

This afternoon (Thursday), at least one police officer remained at the scene. Pictures showed the windows at the property boarded up after being left smashed.

Police have issued an appeal for any witnesses, or anyone who has CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage from the area, to come forward. In a statement, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "At around 8:30pm last night (Wednesday 1 March) Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of a fire at a property on Allendale Walk, Salford.

"Officers attended the scene and were joined by colleagues from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service. Thankfully nobody was seriously injured in this incident and a scene remains in place to establish the circumstances.

"Police are now appealing for any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time to please come forward. Officers are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have any CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage from the area before, during, or after the incident occurred."

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “At 8.30pm on Wednesday 1 March, firefighters were called out to a house fire on Allendale Walk, Salford.

“Four fire engines from Salford, Manchester Central and Moss Side quickly attended the scene where a fire had started at the front door and entrance hallway of a terraced house. Four casualties were rescued from the property by firefighters and given oxygen. All were suffering with smoke inhalation and were treated at the scene by North West Ambulance Service at the scene, before three of them were conveyed to hospital. Crews used four breathing apparatus, one hose reel, breaking in gear and lighting equipment to extinguish the fire. Crews were in attendance for approximately three hours and forty five minutes.”
