Investigation after woman is shot in the chest with an 'air gun' at a Northumberland home

A woman is in hospital after being shot with an air gun at a home in Northumberland.

At around 4.30pm on Monday, emergency services were called to the scene at a home on Hudson Avenue in Bedlington after concerned reports for the welfare of a woman inside the property. The North East Ambulance Service and the Great North Air Ambulance attended the incident with the helicopter landing in a field in Stead Lane at around 4.30pm.

A woman was found at the scene a chest injury consistent with having been caused by an air weapon, police said. Officers from Northumbria Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
