Investigation after video shows man crossing London Overground tracks to harass woman

Police are investigating after a man was filmed crossing London Overground tracks to persistently harass a woman.

Footage posted on social media shows the man trespassing across the tracks at Bruce Grove, in Tottenham, while the woman says: “Can you leave me alone?”

She can also be heard saying “excuse me, can you help me please”, without further response.

The man, in grey tracksuit pants and a black puffer jacket, continues walking toward the woman as she tells him to “back the f**k up” before he tells her to “f**king chill out” and says “let me chat to you”.

The woman begins walking in the opposite direction, telling him “I don’t want to chat to you, I don’t know you from anywhere, go away” before the man terrifyingly says: “I’ll follow you”.

“If you act up, I’ll follow you,” he repeats, before his victim desperately asks: “What is wrong with you?”

As she walks down the stairs, the man can be heard threatening to take her phone before the video cuts out. It is thought the incident happened on Friday night.

British Transport Police (BTP) replied to a person who had shared the clip on the platform X, saying: “So sorry to see this. Everyone has the right to travel without harassment. We’re aware of the video and are investigating.”

The force has since confirmed that it has not received a formal complaint.

A spokesperson said: "No one should have to put up with sexual harassment on the rail network. Detectives investigating this video would like the victim and any witnesses to get in touch.”
