NEW DELHI: A notorious interstate criminal who had been supplying weapons to gangs in the garb of transporting rice bags was arrested by Delhi Police's special cell. The accused was identified as Danish, a resident of Muzaffarnagar in UP. He is suspected to have delivered over 100 weapons to criminals of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh in the last two years.

The suspect was involved in multiple armed robberies and snatchings in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and was also listed among top ten criminals from Meerut. According to DCP (special cell) Pramod Kushwaha, the accused was involved in at least 19 cases of dacoities and robberies. He was also found involved in four recent cases of robbery and snatchings.

Danish (28) was arrested by a team comprising Ravinder Tyagi and Rahul Kumar from Civil Lines area. Three single shot pistols, a 7.65 calibre pistol and 35 bullets were found hidden in a rice bag which he was carrying.

The team had received an input about his whereabouts in late February and mounted surveillance to track him.

Around ten years ago, he worked as a salesman at a cloth shop at Khatauli, Muzaffarnagar and came in contact with a local criminal named Nadeem. In a bid to make quick money, he along with Nadeem started committing robbery and snatchings.
