Interpol seizes 30,000 live animals in global crackdown on wildlife trade

Brazilian authorities seize illegal timber - (Interpol)

Police have busted international smuggling rings and rescued nearly 30,000 animals in a massive month-long crackdown on the illegal wildlife trade.

Operation Thunder 2025 saw officers from 134 countries make 4,640 seizures between September and October, identifying more than 1,100 suspects in the process. The haul included exotic pets, endangered species and tens of thousands of cubic metres of illegally logged timber.
