Inter Milan set for formal Arsenal approach as Edu has final call on £35m deal for breakthrough star

Inter Milan have initiated talks with Arsenal over the signing of talented striker Folarin Balogun, according to Sky Sports. The Gunners have held talks with representatives Balogun over his future at the Emirates Stadium.

After an impressive season on loan at Reims - where he scored 21 goals - Balogun wants regular first-team football next term. The Hale End graduate's performances have seen him attract Interest from Premier League rivals and clubs across Europe - including RB Leipzig and Inter.

With the 21-year-old proving he has what it takes to start - and contribute - at senior level, a move abroad could be the best chance Balogun has of guaranteeing himself regular first-team football next season. Arsenal will demand £35million for Balogun this summer, according to Sky Sport Germany.

Inter could be Balogun's best options for an escape route from Arsenal this summer. The Italian outfit are set to lose Romelu Lukaku this summer when his loan deal expires at the club.

Lautaro Martinez could be sold with Inter looking to raise funds to reinvest in the team - with Chelsea among the clubs monitoring the Argentina World Cup winner's situation at the San Siro. The Blues are unwilling to sanction another loan deal for Lukaku to join Inter and will only negotiate a permanent exit for the Belgian.

Lukaku is likely to cost much more than Balogun with Chelsea keen on recouping a large part of the £97million fee they paid for him in 2021. The Arsenal talent would prove to be a cheaper alternative and potentially end up being the better signing after his stellar performances in France last season prove he deserves to be starting for a top side.
